What is Learning Analytics?
A commonly used definition of Learning Analytics was developed by the Society for Learning Analytics Research:
“Learning analytics is the measurement, collection, analysis and reporting of data about learners and their contexts, for purposes of understanding and optimizing learning and the environments in which it occurs.”
At the University of Toronto, the Learning Analytics Initiative is considering how we can learn from student data, such as patterns of student digital activity in their courses, to inform improvements to the design of courses, assessments, and academic programs.
