Instructors
University of Toronto instructors have indicated a great deal of interest in the potential benefits of improving available analytic tools to provide better insight to learner activity within the Quercus environment. To support this interest, work is currently underway to expand existing Quercus reporting functionality.
This work aims to address three of the goals identified in the Strategy Paper that informs learning analytics work at the University, in particular:
- Improving student learning experiences and outcomes
- Enabling instructors and staff to access and leverage learning data in support of teaching and learning activities
- Optimizing structure and support of digital learning environments
The Learning Analytics project team is currently developing both data infrastructure and instructor support resources that will allow us to advance our understanding of data-informed course design. A key component of this work is the development of Quercus Data Insights.
Quercus Data Insights
Quercus Data Insights (QDI) provides instructors with a dashboard view of student activity in Quercus. QDI is now in its pilot phase and available to University of Toronto instructors who use Quercus for teaching. QDI was developed with Microsoft Power BI and uses data from the Quercus Record Store. Visit our project page for more details on accessing the dashboard and supporting materials.
